10 Reasons Why the Fiscal Court Will be Videotaped
and Videos Made Accessible to  Taxpayers on the Internet
and on Union County Public Access Channel
1. Taxpayers can keep an eye how their tax money is being spent
2. Actions and policy decisions of the Judge Executive and Magistrates is
more open Taxpayer eyes and ears for scrutiny, support, or opposition
3. Expose the Taxpayers as to "how the fiscal court works, what it does and who
   is doing it ".
4. Give Taxpayers access to public policy decisions that affect their present
   and future.
5. Six out of seven internet users now view online content every month
6. The average Taxpayer watches over 80 online videos per month, spending more
    than 5 hours doing so
7.  Total online video viewership increased 5% over year ago, while newspaper
subscribership hit a new multi-decade low, decreasing 3.5%
8. Videotaping fiscal court policy debates and discussions will allow Taxpayers to
better react, interact and interject ideas and opinions into local political
   decisions
9. Access to the meetings will allow the Taxpayers to better know the
personalities and leadership qualities, or the lack thereof,  of the County
Magistrates and Judge Executive of Union County
10. Taxpayers will have more "say" in how their tax money is being spent by their
     elected officials
Beginning in May, 2010, the Cornfield County Gazette will begin videotaping the Union County fiscal court for the Taxpayers of Union County and placing the videos on the internet.

Sheriffs Deputy Checks on Man in Yellow Tent on Hwy 60

by Mark W Cunningham on 03/04/10

I was traveling to Sturgis at 1pm today and noticed a Sheriff's car parked next to the guard rails just before you get to Meacham's curve. There was a strange- looking wooden box and a yellow tent on the right side of the road. Not something you see everyday in Union County.

On my return trip back to Morganfield I stopped. I met the man in the yellow tent. He told me he did not want to tell me his name.  He said, he had traveled from 60 miles north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He told me that he had stopped on Hwy 60 last night and put up his tent.

The man opened up his plywood wagon box and started talking about his "mission" to travel from Michigan to Texas. His box is a large, rectangular plywood box where he keeps his of food, water and supplies for his journey. He told me he puts his tent and some other supplies on top.  The wagon has a pull handle that he uses to steer it with as he walks.

While I was talking to this man, a Chevrolet SUV pulled up. A lady in a Lousiville Cardinals sweatshirt walked over and began talking to the man. She gave the man a jar of instant coffee and some money.  The man asked me if I would help him push the box out of the roadside ditch where he had slept in his tent the night before. I walked to my car and started to leave. As I was leaving,  the lady, walked over to my car and told me that she thought the man was harmless. She told me her name and that she was from Sturgis.  Then she walked back over to the man and began helping him pack up his tent and wagon.  The man is quite unusual and eccentric.

The man in the yellow tent is heading toward Sturgis on his way to Texas.

Sturgis will no doubt be seeing him soon. You can't miss him. He has a long, scraggly white beard and is pulling a plywood box about the size of a coffin.

Jeff Salyers is the Joker

by Mark W Cunningham on 03/03/10

Has anyone noticed Jeff Salyers facebook picture? Salyers is holding a beer in his facebook picture. Personally, I don't have a problem with anyone drinking beer or having a public picture of themselves holding one.  I do not have any problem with getting drunk if that is what you want to do.

But as far as I am concerned, Salyers has established himself as the "Joker" candidate for Union County Jailer. I do not have a facebook page but I can visit facebook pages without one. I have it from a reliable source that Salyers openly states on his facebook page information that his religion is "I am going to hell". That is a quote straight out of Batman comic books. That is the kind of answer we could expect from Batman's arch nemesis, the "Joker".

Salyers is not an agnostic, or even an atheist. Jeff "The Joker" Salyers"  is a member of the anti-Christ church of "I am going to hell". Is beer his holy water? Is Playboy his holy book? Unfortunately for Salyers there won't be beer or Playboy magazines where he says he is going.

Jeff  "Joker" Salyers green campaign signs now litter the landscape in our county. I wonder if any of the people who are campaigning for "The Joker" and telling us to vote for him, know his "I am going to hell" theology. I daresay that those who are campaigning for the "Joker" are ignorant of Salyer's "I am going to hell" position.

If we elect Joker Salyers as ourUnion County Jailer what new jail policies and procedures for inmates can we expect from "Joker" Salyers? Use your imagination.

Judge Executive Observed Videotaping

by Mark W Cunningham on 03/02/10

Yesterday, I observed Jody Jenkins with a video crew. Jenkins had a camera man and a video camera set up on the sidewalk in front of Harve's around 1:00 pm.

Was Jenkins filming a campaign video? Or, was Jenkins producing "content" for placing our fiscal court on public access? Either way, Union County politiX is moving forward.

Videotaping at the Courthouse

by Mark W Cunningham on 03/02/10

I traveled to Owensboro last week and met with Time-Warner cable and met with their management. I  discussed videotaping the Union County fiscal court and placing the content on public access. According to my contacts at Time-Warner cable, they(Time-Warner) are is in the process of adding a public access channel to our Union County cable system.  This is great news for us in Union County. It will bring Union County politiX into the

According to my contacts at Time-Warner, they are in the process of adding a channel in the next few months.
